Former Wales International Joins Scarlets’ Board of Directors
In a significant move for the Scarlets rugby club, Tonia Antoniazzi, a former Wales international, has been appointed to the club’s board of directors. Antoniazzi, who is the first female MP for Gower, has served at Westminster since 2017.
Born and raised in Llanelli, Antoniazzi has been a lifelong Scarlets supporter and will take up her new role on the board immediately. Aside from her impressive political career, Antoniazzi has also been a driving force behind the growth and development of women’s and girls’ rugby in Wales, championing greater equality and inclusion at all levels of the sport.
“Scarlets rugby has been at the heart of my family and my upbringing, and it was that love and passion for this club that led me to play for Wales. Now I am continuing to support the sport that means so much to me off the pitch. Rugby is ours. It’s everybody’s sport, and everybody matters in our game.”
This move by the Scarlets signifies their commitment to diversity and inclusivity, as they welcome Antoniazzi’s expertise and passion for the game. Her appointment is expected to contribute significantly to the club’s continued success and the promotion of rugby union across Wales.
