Wales Flanker Callender Joins Harlequins Women
In a significant move ahead of the upcoming Premiership Women’s Rugby season, Wales flanker Alex Callender has joined the esteemed Harlequins Women squad. Callender, a standout performer for the Wales national team in recent years, was left without a club following the collapse of Worcester Warriors Women last autumn.
Despite the setback, Callender showcased her leadership skills by captaining Brython Thunder in this year’s Celtic Challenge. Her impressive performances have also earned her the role of Wales’ vice-captain under the guidance of Hannah Jones.
At just 23 years old, Callender has already amassed an impressive 37 Test appearances for Wales, making her debut against France in the 2018 Women’s Six Nations. Her resilience and on-field contributions were a bright spot in Wales’ 2024 campaign, as she played every minute and finished the Six Nations as the top tackler and ball carrier.
“Callender’s move to Harlequins Women will see her reunite with several of her international teammates, including Carys Phillips, Abbie Fleming, and Lisa Neumann, as she looks to make her mark in the competitive Premiership Women’s Rugby season.”
