Griffin Cleared for Wales Autumn Internationals
After being diagnosed with a condition that is not considered a permanent one, Bath prop Will Griffin has been cleared to rejoin full training and has been selected in Wales’ 35-man squad for the upcoming autumn internationals.
“At the time, I obviously didn’t know what it was,” Griffin said. “After the game, I had lots of check-ups and found out what had happened. I had to take lots of medication.”
Griffin was ordered to rest completely for two weeks before gradually returning to full training.
“I had two weeks off exercise, apart from walking my dog, before slowly getting back into full training,” he explained.
The tight-head prop, who impressed during Wales’ two test defeats against Australia last summer, is now grateful to be back on the field.
“It’s made it more clear to me now that all I want to do is play rugby,” said Griffin. “Not being able to do anything for two weeks shows you not to take it for granted.”
Griffin has linked up with the Welsh squad this week, alongside fellow props Keiron Assiratti and Henry Thomas, and hopes to feature in Wales’ opening autumn international against Fiji on 10 November in Cardiff.
