Cardiff Rugby Welcomes Hooker Dafydd Hughes’ Contract Extension
Dafydd Hughes Commits to the Blue and Blacks
Dafydd Hughes, the 28-year-old hooker, has agreed to a new contract that will keep him with Cardiff Rugby. The former Scarlets player joined the Blue and Blacks in October 2023 after the demise of English Championship side Jersey Reds.
Last season, Hughes made two first-team appearances for Cardiff, and he has now signed a new deal to compete with Liam Belcher, Evan Lloyd, and Efan Daniel for the coveted number two jersey.
“I am so grateful for the opportunity to remain at Cardiff,” Hughes expressed. “Since the unfortunate collapse of Jersey, I have been warmly welcomed at the Arms Park and have enjoyed being part of a highly competitive squad, which is brimming with potential and determined to improve.”
The competition for the hooker position is fierce, but Hughes is confident in the squad’s camaraderie.
“There is a lot of competition at hooker, but we all get along well and are driving each other to become better players,” he said.
