Cardiff Rugby Bolsters Pack with Seasoned England Lock Josh McNally
In a significant move, Cardiff Rugby have secured the services of England international lock Josh McNally from Bath. The 33-year-old, who is also a sergeant in the Royal Air Force, joins the Welsh club after a five-year stint with the English Premiership side.
McNally’s Journey and Excitement for Wales
McNally’s rugby journey began at Henley Hawks in 2012, followed by spells at London Welsh and London Irish. Reflecting on his decision to join Cardiff, the lock shared, “Having spent part of my career at London Welsh, and all my wife’s family originating in Wales, I have always been in awe of the passion for rugby in Wales, and I can’t wait to immerse myself in the capital.” He also expressed gratitude to the Royal Air Force for their unwavering support throughout his career.
Cardiff’s Emphasis on Experienced Leaders
Cardiff’s head coach, Matt Sherratt, emphasized the importance of bringing in experienced and capable leaders, particularly in light of the recent departures and retirements within the squad. He commented, “Josh has been a key figure on and off the pitch during the past five seasons at Bath, and his former coaches and team-mates cannot speak highly enough of him.“
McNally, who made his sole appearance for the England national team against the United States in 2021, will now bring his expertise and leadership to the Cardiff lineup, further bolstering their pack for the upcoming season.
