Cornish Pirates Sign Exeter Chiefs Hooker Iestyn Harris on Loan Amid Injury Woes
In a move to bolster their roster amid injury concerns, the Cornish Pirates have secured the services of Exeter Chiefs hooker Iestyn Harris on a loan deal. The 25-year-old former Wales youth international will join the Pirates at the Mennaye, providing much-needed specialist cover following injuries to Morgan Nelson and Rhys Williams.
“With the injuries that we have had from the last game, it has been important that we bring someone in to fill that space, and thanks to the support of Exeter Chiefs, Iestyn is that man,” said Cornish Pirates joint head coach Alan Paver.
Iestyn Harris, who has been playing for the Exeter Chiefs first team for the past two years after joining from Cardiff, has been identified as a talented player with potential. The Pirates are eager to integrate him into their squad and are looking forward to seeing him in action during their upcoming Championship game against Ampthill on Saturday.
“He has been earmarked as a talented player who has just come back from injury, so we are looking forward to seeing him down at the Mennaye and integrating him in accordingly,” Paver added.
This loan move from the Exeter Chiefs to the Cornish Pirates is expected to provide much-needed depth and experience to the Pirates’ rugby union squad as they navigate the challenges of the current season. Fans of the Wales national rugby union team and the England national rugby union team will be keeping a close eye on Harris’ performance and development during his time with the Cornish Pirates.
