Dragons Secure Experienced Lock Steve Cummins for 2024-25 Season
In a significant move, the Dragons have announced the signing of lock Steve Cummins from French club Pau. The 32-year-old Australian, who previously played for the Scarlets in Wales between 2017 and 2020, will join the Rodney Parade side ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Cummins, standing at an imposing 6ft 7in, boasts a wealth of experience, having also represented the Melbourne Rebels in the past. His addition to the Dragons squad is set to bolster their second-row options and provide valuable leadership qualities.
Commenting on the latest recruit, Dragons head coach Dai Flanagan expressed his delight, stating, “It’s fantastic news that Steve joins us as he adds real experience to our pack and depth to our second-row resources.” Flanagan highlighted Cummins’ impressive physical presence and leadership skills, noting that he will “benefit our squad” and “drive standards” within the team.
The experienced lock’s move to the Dragons coincides with the arrival of fellow Australian, center Harry Wilson, and Tongan back-row Solomone Funaki, as the Welsh region continues to strengthen its roster for the upcoming season.
