England and Wales Set for Highly Anticipated Women’s Six Nations Clash

Saturday, March 30th, 16:45 GMT at Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol sets the stage for a highly anticipated match between England and Wales in the Women’s Six Nations tournament, as covered by BBC Rugby Union. With live broadcasts on BBC Two, BBC iPlayer, and BBC online platforms, along with commentary from BBC Radio Wales and Radio Cymru, fans will be able to enjoy all the action unfold. Additionally, real-time updates will be available on the BBC Sport website and app.

In a dramatic turn of events, Megan Jones, the Cardiff-born Welsh speaker, may confront Wales for the very first time as an England player. Having made her England debut in 2015, Jones progressed to starting a World Cup final in 2017 and co-captaining Team GB’s Sevens unit at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

“When I made the decision in 2014, England had just won the World Cup. It was really positive. It was the best leap I’ve made.”

Jones’ upbringing in Cardiff contrasts with her teenage years spent at Hartpury, England, honing her rugby abilities. As she reflects on her decision to play for England in 2014, Jones remains confident that she made the right choice.

Wales faces England on the heels of a home loss to Scotland in their Six Nations opener, remaining winless in their previous four matches. Despite coming up short against Scotland, Wales put up a formidable fight, demonstrating their ability to maintain pace with England. Key contributors to the Welsh team, such as Lleucu George, are determined to turn the tables. In a narrowly missed opportunity, George failed to secure a 79th-minute conversion that would have salvaged a draw.

“You look at how competitive that match was, they’re closing the gap on us 100%,” Jones recognized.

Undeterred by their recent struggles, she remains optimistic about Wales’ future, urging her England teammates to “keep them in their box” in anticipation of the electric clash at Ashton Gate.
