Wales Succumb to Dominant France in Women’s Six Nations Clash
Cardiff, 22 April – In a one-sided affair, the French national rugby union team ran riot over Wales, securing a convincing 40-0 victory in their Women’s Six Nations encounter.
The Grand Slam-chasing French side showcased their attacking prowess, crossing the tryline six times to condemn the home team to another heavy defeat. Annaelle Deshaye, Joanna Grisez and Romane Menager all scored first-half tries, setting the tone for a dominant French performance.
After the break, Gabrielle Vernier, Manae Feleu and Grisez again found their way to the tryline, capping off a comprehensive display from the visitors. The Welsh side, who had hoped to bounce back from their disappointing outing against Ireland, struggled with accuracy and composure throughout the match, failing to register a single point.
“France’s victory ensures they will now face defending champions England in a title-deciding showdown on 27 April.”
Meanwhile, Wales remain rooted to the bottom of the table with just a single losing bonus point to their name.
Ioan Cunningham’s team will be aiming to avoid the Wooden Spoon when they take on Italy at the Principality Stadium on 27 April, in the first of three remaining fixtures.
