Rugby Union News: Gloucester-Hartpury Secure Key Player Signings
In a significant boost for the Gloucester-Hartpury rugby union team, the club has secured new deals with three key players โ hooker Neve Jones, Wales international Bethan Lewis, and Spain’s Carmen Castellucci.
Hooker Neve Jones, who has been in impressive form this Premiership season, scoring five tries, has extended her stay with the club. The 25-year-old Ireland international joined Gloucester-Hartpury in 2022 and has started eight matches so far this campaign.
Joining Jones in committing her future to the reigning Premiership champions is Wales back-row Bethan Lewis. The 25-year-old has been with Gloucester-Hartpury since 2018 and has started 10 of the club’s unbeaten 13 Premiership games this season. Lewis, who won her first Wales cap at the age of 18, will continue to be a crucial part of the Gloucester-Hartpury squad.
Unfortunately, Spain international center Carmen Castellucci has been sidelined with an injury since the start of 2024. The 21-year-old was named in the starting lineup for the club’s first six rounds of this season’s PWR fixtures.
These signings add to the growing list of Gloucester-Hartpury players who have recently extended their stays, including England’s Tatyana Heard, props Ellena Perry and Maud Muir, full-back Emma Sing, flanker Alex Matthews, and Wales’ Sisilia Tuipulotu. Co-captains Zoe Aldcroft and Natasha ‘Mo’ Hunt have also signed contract extensions.
The retention of these key rugby union talents, including the likes of Neve Jones, Bethan Lewis, and Carmen Castellucci, further strengthens Gloucester-Hartpury’s position as a formidable force in the Premiership competition.
