Immanuel Feyi-Waboso’s Meteoric Rise from Club Rugby to Stardom

In a remarkable journey, Immanuel Feyi-Waboso has rapidly ascended from playing club rugby with Taunton to becoming a breakout star for both Exeter and the England national team. The 21-year-old wing, who ended last season with a try against the All Blacks, is no longer under the radar.

Feyi-Waboso has openly acknowledged the significant changes in his career, reflecting on the “crazy, really fast” pace of his progression. After earning a chance with Exeter, he quickly cemented his place in the first team and earned a call-up to the England squad for the 2024 Six Nations and summer tour.

    Adapting to Increased Attention

The young talent recognizes the need to adapt as he gains more attention, heeding the advice of former England wing Jonny May about the “cat and mouse” nature of the game.

“If people expect me to come one way, I need to go the other,” Feyi-Waboso said.

    Accolades and Opportunities

Feyi-Waboso’s breakout campaign has been rewarded with accolades, including the Premiership’s Breakthrough Player of the Season and the Rugby Players’ Association Young Player of the Year. Additionally, he has been signed to an electric car deal, solidifying his growing status as a promising international star.

    Balancing Success and Ambition

Despite the whirlwind of success, Feyi-Waboso remains grounded, continuing his medical degree at Exeter University while also setting his sights on a Lions tour to Australia next summer under the guidance of Ireland head coach Andy Farrell.

As Feyi-Waboso looks to build on his remarkable rise, he acknowledges the need to keep improving on the pitch and helping Exeter climb the Premiership table. With a newfound sense of comfort and stability, the young wing is poised to take his game to even greater heights.
