Rugby Union News: Italy National Team Bolsters Coaching Staff with Former Cardiff Defender Richard Hodges
In a significant move for the Italy men’s national rugby union team, they have announced the appointment of Richard Hodges as their new defence coach. Hodges, who previously held the same role with the Cardiff team, has been signed on a four-year deal and will join Gonzalo Quesada’s coaching staff.
Hodges, who has also gained experience with the Wales Sevens and Wales Under-20 setups, replaces Marius Goosen in the Italy role. The seasoned coach will begin his new position this summer, bringing his expertise to the Italian national team.
“I am both proud and happy to have the chance to work with this group of players who showed what they are capable of during the last Six Nations.”
The Italy national team will be hoping Hodges’ arrival can help bolster their defensive capabilities as they look to build on their recent performances in the prestigious Six Nations tournament.
