Kieran Hardy Set to Bolster Ospreys’ Scrum-Half Options

Accomplished Wales international Kieran Hardy has agreed to join Ospreys from Scarlets for the upcoming season. The 28-year-old scrum-half, who has 21 caps for his country and an impressive tally of 25 tries in 100 appearances for Scarlets, will compete for the starting role at his new club.

Hardy, who is the cousin of current Ospreys scrum-half Luke Davies, will vie for game time with Reuben Morgan-Williams, who has been the Welsh region’s first-choice number nine this season. Discussing the upcoming move, the experienced playmaker expressed his excitement about the “next chapter” of his career and the opportunity to contribute his talents to the Ospreys squad.

“I’m really excited about the next chapter of my career and the opportunity to join the Ospreys.”

Ospreys head coach Toby Booth welcomed the addition of Hardy, highlighting his “impressive skill set” and the benefits of fostering increased competition in the critical scrum-half position. Booth emphasized the importance of developing depth in specialist roles, noting that the added competition will only drive standards higher within the team.

The departure of Hardy from Scarlets leaves them with experienced Wales international Gareth Davies on their books, along with young up-and-coming talents Archie Hughes and Efan Jones, ensuring the region maintains a strong pool of scrum-half options.
