Ospreys Relish Underdog Tag Ahead of URC Play-off Clash with Munster
On the eve of the United Rugby Championship (URC) play-offs, Wales flanker Jac Morgan has expressed Ospreys’ eagerness to embrace the underdog tag when they face defending champions Munster on Friday night. Ospreys managed to sneak into the eighth and final play-off spot, while Munster topped the table after winning the URC title last season.
“Sometimes it’s easier to be the underdogs, there’s a bit less pressure and no one expects you to get a result,” said Morgan.
The young Welsh flanker is relishing the opportunity to test his team against the league’s best, acknowledging Munster’s impressive form.
“It’ll be great for us to go up against Munster, we want to play against the best and they are playing some great rugby at the moment.”
Ospreys’ qualification for the play-offs marks the first time a Welsh side has reached this stage of the competition in six years.
“It’s very important for Welsh rugby and it’s great to be there,” Morgan commented. “We’re chuffed, it’s something we spoke about at the start of the season. It was a target of ours to get there, so to achieve our goal is great, but now it’s all eyes on Friday night.”
The prospect of facing the defending champions at their fortress, Thomond Park, only adds to the excitement for the Ospreys squad.
“We know the atmosphere at Thomond Park will be great, that just adds to the excitement,” Morgan concluded.
