Rugby Prodigy Fisilau Tipped for England Debut After Stellar Performance

Exeter’s 20-year-old sensation Greg Fisilau has been earmarked for a potential England call-up following his remarkable display in the Chiefs’ 58-26 thrashing of Harlequins.

Exeter director of rugby Rob Baxter lauded Fisilau’s display, stating, “He had a standout game โ€“ one of his best. He has had a great season, and I think Greg put down as big a marker as he could.” The young forward’s dominant carrying and explosive physicality against Harlequins have positioned him as a contender for a summer call-up, particularly with Billy Vunipola’s impending move to Montpellier opening up a vacancy in the England setup.

“Everything about him says we want to get this guy on the ball as much as possible. When he does, he is lethal.”

Fisilau, who has Tongan heritage and played Under-20 rugby last year, has rapidly developed both physically and mentally, showcasing the kind of dynamic ball-carrying ability that could make him an ideal long-term successor to Vunipola in the England back row. Alongside Bath’s Alfie Barbeary, Fisilau represents the next generation of promising young English No. 8s vying for international recognition.

With Exeter needing a bonus-point win against Leicester on the final day of the regular season to secure a play-off spot, Fisilau’s continued form could be crucial in determining the Chiefs’ Premiership ambitions.

As the curtain falls on the Premiership season, the stage is set for Fisilau to potentially earn his first senior England call-up, further cementing his reputation as one of the most exciting young talents in English rugby union.
