Rugby Union News: Scarlets in Talks to Sign Wales Prop Henry Thomas from Castres
The Scarlets are reportedly in negotiations to secure the services of Wales prop Henry Thomas from French club Castres. Thomas, who joined Castres in January 2023 on a deal set to expire at the end of the 2023-24 season, previously represented England between 2013 and 2014, earning seven international caps.
The 32-year-old, who is eligible to play for Wales through his father, was included in Warren Gatland’s 2023 World Cup squad but did not feature in the 2024 Six Nations. Under World Rugby regulations, Thomas is now able to switch his international allegiance, having not played for England in over three years.
“The potential signing of Henry Thomas would bolster the Scarlets’ front-row options as they look to build a competitive squad for the upcoming seasons, including the 2023 Rugby World Cup.”
Thomas’ professional career began at Sale, and he later spent seven seasons with Bath before making the move to France and joining Montpellier in 2021, prior to his current stint at Castres.
