Cabango’s Opportunity to Impress for Wales
In a boost for the Wales national rugby union team, Cardiff’s Theo Cabango is set to seize his chance to showcase his talents after the unfortunate injury to Josh Adams. According to Cardiff coach Gareth Rees, Cabango’s ability and potential make him a strong candidate to fill the void left by Adams’ absence.
“It’s unfortunate for Josh, but we can bring in Theo [Cabango] and it’s a real opportunity for him,” Rees said. “He hasn’t had the game time he may have wanted in South Africa and the games before that, but he showed what he can do against Ulster. When you talk about potential in Welsh rugby, he is right up there.”
Cabango, a 22-year-old wing, has been highly touted by his Cardiff coach Matt Sherratt, who has compared him to Test regular Rio Dyer for his pace and guile. The young player is eager to make the jump to international rugby, following in the footsteps of his friends who have recently received the call-up to the Wales squad.
“I’ve been proud to see so many friends get that call, and the likes of Cam [Winnett], Alex Mann and Mason [Grady] have really taken to it,” Cabango said. “It’s always been my dream to play for Wales. I guess this Saturday is a last chance to impress [before the summer], and getting that chance would be amazing.”
With a crucial match against the Ospreys on the horizon, Cabango is relishing the opportunity to prove himself on the national stage. “It’s always a good challenge against Ospreys. It’s usually pretty physical, and they’re desperate to get a play-off spot. But we’ve also got something to prove.”
The article highlights the rising talent and potential of Theo Cabango, as he looks to seize his chance to impress the Wales selectors and secure a spot in the national squad.
