Wales National Rugby Union Talents Secure Long-Term Deals with Dragons

The Wales national rugby union team’s future looks bright as several promising youngsters have signed new long-term deals with the Dragons. Ryan Woodman, Harri Ackerman, and Joe Westwood have all penned contract extensions, ensuring they will remain at Rodney Parade for the coming years.

Woodman, a 20-year-old flanker, was set to captain the Wales U20 team at the 2023 Rugby World Cup Final, but missed the tournament due to an arm injury. Despite the setback, the talented youngster has already made 10 appearances for the Dragons’ senior side and is now poised for three more seasons with the club. Head coach Dai Flanagan lauded Woodman’s “exceptional talent” and “huge potential,” emphasizing the team’s role in aiding his long-term development.

In the Dragons’ backline, centers Ackerman and Westwood have also secured three-year contract extensions. The 19-year-old Ackerman, recently named Wales U20 captain, is seen as a rising star, with Flanagan praising his “ball-playing” abilities and “high ceiling.” Westwood, 20, was part of the Wales team that finished sixth at last year’s Junior World Championship and has already made his senior Dragons debut.

“These signings of young Wales national rugby union team prospects are a significant boost for the Dragons’ midfield options, with Flanagan highlighting their potential to become ‘future 13s’ for the club.”

Additionally, scrum-halves Morgan Lloyd and Che Hope, wing Ewan Rosser, and hooker Sam Scarfe have also agreed to new contracts, further strengthening the Dragons’ squad depth.

This investment in Welsh rugby union talent underscores the Dragons’ commitment to nurturing the next generation of national team players. As these promising individuals continue their development, the Wales national rugby union team’s future looks increasingly bright, with the potential for strong performances at future Rugby World Cup finals and other high-profile competitions.
