BBC Rugby Union News | [Current Date]
In a significant move within the women’s game, Welsh fly-half Robyn Wilkins has announced her departure from Exeter Chiefs Women to join the ranks of Sale Sharks Women. The 29-year-old veteran, who recently earned her 70th international cap for Wales in their WXV2 play-off victory against Spain, will now embark on a new chapter of her illustrious career.
Wilkins, a stalwart of the Welsh national team, had previously been left out of the 2024 Women’s Six Nations squad, with Wales finishing at the bottom of the table. The experienced playmaker spent just one season with Exeter Chiefs after her former club, Worcester Warriors Women, collapsed.
Prior to her stint with the Chiefs, Wilkins had also represented Gloucester-Hartpury, making her Test debut for Wales at the tender age of 18 during the 2014 Six Nations against Italy. The seasoned fly-half has since gone on to play in two Rugby World Cup tournaments, cementing her place as a key figure in the Welsh national setup.
“This move to Sale Sharks Women presents an exciting new challenge for Wilkins as she looks to continue her impressive international career and make a significant impact at the club level.”
