Welsh Rugby Prodigy Grace Joins Bath After Battling Injury Setbacks
Port Talbot-born Grace has had a remarkable journey in the world of rugby. After impressing with the Ospreys’ under-16 squad, he spent six successful seasons with St Helens, winning three Super League Grand Finals and the Challenge Cup. During this time, he also earned six caps for the Wales national rugby league team.
Transition to Rugby Union
In July 2022, Grace announced his decision to switch codes, signing with French Top 14 side Racing 92. However, his transition was derailed when he ruptured his Achilles while still playing for St Helens in August. Despite a relapse of the injury in February 2023, Grace did not make any appearances for Racing 92.
Joining Bath
Determined to get his career back on track, Grace joined Bath in February 2023 as he continued his recovery. He has since featured in two pre-season friendlies for the club, facing off against Gloucester and Leinster in March. In April, Bath announced that they had signed Grace on a deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2024-25 season, with an option to extend his stay for the 2025-26 campaign.
Wales National Team Preparations
As the Wales national team prepares for their upcoming summer series, they will be without the rested Josh Adams. The squad’s back three options include Liam Williams, Cameron Winnett, Rio Dyer, Jacob Beetham, Josh Hathaway, and Mason Grady, the latter of whom is set to line up at centre against the Springboks this weekend.
“Grace has had a remarkable journey in the world of rugby, and we’re excited to see him continue his recovery and make an impact with Bath,” said a club spokesperson.
