Welsh Rugby’s Judgement Day Returns to Principality Stadium in 2025

Welsh Rugby’s Judgement Day Set to Return to Principality Stadium in 2025

The annual Welsh rugby union showcase, Judgement Day, is poised to make its highly anticipated return to the Principality Stadium in Cardiff in April 2025. This year’s edition, however, will take place at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday, 1 June.

Typically, the Principality Stadium has been the host venue for the Welsh double-header, but the scheduling conflicts with the venue’s concert calendar this season have necessitated the move to the Cardiff City Stadium. The Principality Stadium will be occupied by a series of high-profile music events in May and June, including performances by Bruce Springsteen, Pink, Taylor Swift, and the Foo Fighters.

Historically, the Judgement Day event has been held around the Easter period, but the delayed 2023 World Cup has led to a shift in the timing of the United Rugby Championship (URC) campaign, resulting in the 2023 Judgement Day being moved to a later date.

However, the event will revert to its traditional Easter Saturday slot on 19 April 2025, with the Ospreys facing off against Cardiff, followed by a showdown between the Scarlets and the Dragons.

The Cardiff City Stadium, with its capacity of 33,280, will host this year’s Judgement Day, a significant difference from the Principality Stadium’s 74,500-seat capacity. Last season’s Judgement Day event, held in April 2023, drew a crowd of 41,139 for the two matches, with Cardiff defeating the Ospreys and the Dragons overcoming the Scarlets.
