SUMMARY

The Current Politics section of the KONDA May'25 Barometer survey includes an analysis and evaluation of social perceptions and attitudes towards the corruption allegations against the imprisoned Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and CHP's Presidential Candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, as well as social attitudes towards the construction of the Canal Istanbul Project:

• What do you think about the corruption allegations against Ekrem İmamoğlu?
• Do you think Canal Istanbul is a necessary project?

The majority of the public still does not believe the corruption charges against İmamoğlu. However, the ruling bloc voters remain consolidated on this issue, despite a decline among MHP voters. Meanwhile, more than half of society views the Canal Istanbul project negatively and deems it unnecessary; this tendency is even more pronounced among those living in Istanbul. Even the ruling bloc electorate, from which the project receives its highest support, remains distant toward Canal Istanbul.
