Türkiye, owning a home and a car has become one of the most visible indicators of changes in the country’s economic capacity in recent years. Data from the September ’25 Barometer point to both a decline over time in ownership of these two basic assets and widening gaps between social groups. The share of those who own both a home and a car stands at 37 percent. Over the past four years, there has been a six-point decrease in the proportion of people who own both a home and a car. The proportion of households that own a car is 51 percent.
