SUMMARY

The partial improvement in the population’s level of psychological well-being continues, but 4 out of every 5 people still do not experience psychological well-being. Furthermore, 2 out of every 5 people in the population are below the critical threshold, meaning they are at risk for depression. It is noteworthy that the level of well-being is closely linked to income level and educational status.

This section includes the third measurement of the five-item WHO-5 (World Health Organization) scale, used to measure psychological well-being, from the KONDA Barometer. Based on responses to the following five items, the section analyzes trends in psychological well-being in Turkey and identifies which social groups exhibit lower or higher levels of well-being:

  • Over the past two weeks, I felt cheerful and happy.
  • Over the past two weeks, I felt calm and relaxed.
  • Over the past two weeks, I felt active and energetic.
  • Over the past two weeks, I woke up in the morning feeling refreshed and well-rested.
  • Over the past two weeks, my days were filled with things that interested me.
