SUMMARY

With the theme of “Representations of Conservative-Modern Relations”, this report aims to understand the socio-demographic fault lines in Turkey with reference to television series such as “Kızıl Goncalar” and “Kızılcık Şerbeti” and covers the representations of conservatives and moderns in the media, social distances and tensions. The report also includes different sections such as general politics, Erdoğan's report card grade, expectations from a political government, findings on positioning on the right-left scale, speech analysis of political party leaders, and Prof. Dr. Hasan Kirmanoğlu's observations on voters outside the polarization. In addition, there are analyzes on New Year celebration practices and income distribution in 2023.

KONDA Research has been conducting a series of political and social surveys called BAROMETER every month since 2010. In addition to the standard questions on demographic characteristics, political preferences and economic expectations that we regularly ask in each BAROMETER survey, we also ask questions about the public's perspective on the issues that are on the public agenda at the time and to measure their perceptions and expectations in different areas. The survey, the 149th in the Barometer research series, was conducted on January 6-7, 2024 in 198 neighborhoods and villages of 97 districts, including the central districts of 27 provinces, by face-to-face interviews with 3018 people in their households.
