SUMMARY

This report, prepared under the theme of “Presidency, political preferences, economic perceptions, and social polarization,” examines the current political orientations, perceptions of leadership, and voting behavior of society. In addition, it addresses topics such as support for and criticism of President Erdoğan, assessments of the services provided during the Ak Parti era, freedom of expression, perceptions of interference in lifestyle choices, and recent court decisions and political allegations that have preoccupied public opinion. Furthermore, individuals' livelihoods, expectations of an economic crisis, and the relationship between these expectations and political preferences are evaluated in the context of economic fragility and social concerns about the future. The current politics section addresses concert and festival bans, the arrest of Gülşen, and Sedat Peker's allegations.

KONDA Research has been conducting a series of political and social surveys under the name BAROMETER every month since 2010. In addition to the standard questions we regularly ask in each BAROMETER survey about demographic characteristics, political preferences, and economic expectations, questions are also asked to gauge the public's view on issues currently on the public agenda and to measure perceptions and expectations in different areas. The research underlying the 134th report in the Barometer research series was conducted through face-to-face interviews with 3,834 individuals in their homes on September 10-11, 2022.
