SUMMARY

Despite the polarization deepened by politics and the economy, public perception in Turkey is centered on a shared pessimism among all segments of society, regardless of education level or party preference, regarding the “general direction of the country” and “expectations for the future.” The satisfaction index shows that the broad masses outside the ruling bloc have largely lost faith in both the resolution of current problems and the prospect of improvement in the near future.

This section examines the trajectory of changes in general satisfaction and individual and national satisfaction in Turkey over the years, since the first KONDA Barometer survey in March 2010. The annual trends in questions based on the satisfaction index calculation are examined along different demographic and political axes:

  • Satisfaction Index
  • My living conditions have improved over the last 5 years.
  • My living conditions will be better in 5 years.
  • I am satisfied with my current opportunities and livelihood.
  • I am generally satisfied with my health.
  • General living conditions in Turkey have improved over the last 5 years.
  • General living conditions in Turkey will be better in 5 years.
  • There have been positive political developments in Turkey; Turkey is on the right track.
  • Overall, I see that Turkey's problems are decreasing.
  • Even if I had the opportunity to move to another country, I would still choose to live in Turkey.
