The section examines the public perceptions and attitudes towards the issues on the agenda of Turkish politics during the time period when the April 25 Barometer survey was conducted. These issues are: Ekrem İmamoğlu's detention, belief in the solution of the Kurdish issue, and evaluation of the presidential system.
Three-fifths of society are against the political steps taken by the government in recent months. These policies are also beginning to damage faith in the resolution process, which has become less talked about in public. On the anniversary of the referendum, approval for the presidential system is also at its lowest level.
Three-fifths of society are against the political steps taken by the government in recent months. The proportion of those who believe that the detention of Ümit Özdağ last month and Ekrem İmamoğlu this month was unlawful remains the same: three-fifths of society. Attitudes toward corruption allegations, when analyzed by political preference, overlap with attitudes regarding these detentions. These developments are also beginning to erode faith in the "solution process", which has become a less frequent topic of public discussion; voter confidence has decreased compared to last month. While nearly half of society is unconvinced that the process will yield a solution, the belief in the process, diverging along political lines, highlights the extent of polarization. On the anniversary of the referendum, approval for the presidential system has also reached its lowest level. While a large portion of society favors the previous system, this view has risen among AK Party voters as well, approaching 30%. Support for the presidential system diverges according to alignment with the two opposing political poles. Furthermore, beyond political clusters, there are noteworthy groups opposing the presidential system: civil servants, those participating in the anti-Israel boycott, small retailers, and those who wear headscarves.
